One person‘s 'trash' another person‘s...

One person’s trash is another person‘s treasure is what led me to meet a treasure of a person. A person who shares the love of creating. Via this connection I started attending "junk swaps" which were meet ups where people brought things they didn’t want anymore, but that someone else might use/have a purpose for. (Look at us putting sustainability into practice! 😊) Out of this blossomed a friendship filled with random meet ups, drop offs/exchanges of random discarded or no longer needed items that the other could use.

After seeing a few of my posts sharing some of my daughter's designing moments, my friend was moved to curate a box of items from her 'treasures' to share with my daughter to encourage her creativity and came by the house to drop it off.  My daughter was quiet as my friend explained all of the goodies in the box, but when she finished, she collected her box and immediately went to tell her daddy about all the items she received.  She was so excited!

As my daughter was off deciding how she was going to design with her new found items, my friend and I started talking. She shared that as she was curating this box of random goodies she was tapping into her inner creative child as well. I truly resonated with how there are times when you’re doing something for other people, and also doing it for yourself.

I also connected with the feelings it conjured up of things/ideas/dreams foresaken or taken as we have navigated life and embraced adulthood.

This recollection brought up a few tears, but more so it made me really grateful and reminded me of how 'random' interactions are really God‘s beautiful way of making connections that transcend...

  • What we think a friendship should look like or be.

  • How important the little things really are.

  • That we can continue to dream and reclaim foresaken/taken things, ideas, and dreams.

  • What giving to someone else can mean not only to the recepient, but also for the giver.

So what 'trash' do you have that can be someone else’s treasure?

Thank you, Donna! 💜🤗
